On behalf of the PTA, we would like to welcome everyone to a new school year! PTA stands for Parent-Teacher Association and consists of parents and teachers working together to support and enrich all students. Anyone can become a member!
The Shaker Lane PTA’s objective is to build a strong community for our students and provide our school with funds, programs, resources, and services that will enrich and maximize the education for every child and to benefit the school. The PTA also coordinates the classroom ambassadors and helps to fund activities and materials that enrich the curriculum for the students.
In the 2024-2025 school year, the PTA contributed over $15,000 back to the school!
We would love new members and are looking for fresh new ideas to stay involved and engaged with the school and community!
Interested in becoming a classroom ambassador?
Thank you for considering volunteering for the role of Classroom Ambassador for your child's class! Being a Classroom Ambassador is a rewarding opportunity to share your student's experience at Shaker Lane. You will interact with both the teachers and families throughout the year. Typically, each classroom will have 2, or sometimes 3, room ambassadors that will split the responsibilities. It is important that you collaborate with your teacher to understand their specific needs. This role requires planning, organizing and communicating with fellow families.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Assisting the teacher with planning special classroom activities as requested by teacher
Coordinating class gifts for teachers in December & June
Class Ambassadors are encouraged to attend PTA meetings to serve as a liaison (First PTA Meeting is October 1 @ 6:15pm at SLS.)
Occasionally sharing news/info from the PTA with class parents

Shaker Lane School PTA is a resource for families, school personnel and the community as we strive to:
Work with and support the Shaker Lane Elementary administration and staff;
Keep you informed through email and social media about upcoming events and activities at Shaker Lane Elementary School;
Support teachers and students by providing teacher grants;
Strengthen the Shaker Lane Elementary community with social events, guest speakers, and volunteer opportunities.
